After the announcement by the government of President Gabriel Boric about the details of the New Security Plan, where Antofagasta was not included in the police increase, the deputy of the region, Sebastían Videla, together with Governor Ricardo Díaz and various authorities in the area, they were received by the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, who listened to the needs of the region; this, after the increase in crimes in vehicle thefts, assaults, and fights.
“Today we had the opportunity to talk with the minister to provide more support on security issues in the region, in sectors such as Ollagüe, Calama and Antofagasta; this, to have more resources in technology and give more peace of mind to the neighbors,” he said.
On the other hand, Videla stated that Minister Siches promised to visit the area to provide concrete solutions, after the migration crisis and the truck driver crisis left the region behind.
In this sense, the Governor of Antofagasta, Ricardo Díaz, emphasized that “it has been a transversal call to the Ministry of the Interior. We believe that Antofagasta has to have a better treatment, we have to recover the Carabineros that they took out of the NCO School and recover that endowment we have”.
