Federal Deputy Sargento Portugal (Somos) said that the vehicle in which he was was shot by criminals on Thursday (17), at Avenida Antares, in Santa Cruz, west of Rio de Janeiro. The 36th City Police Station investigates the case.
On social networks, the deputy published a statement about what happened.
“The attempt to intimidate was clear. They attacked my car. Once again, they tried to take my life. This is the price they pay for fighting for you, to tear the verb. They want to shut up my voice,” says the text of Portugal.
According to the lawyer and licensed military police Fábio Tobias, who was present at the scene, traffickers would have shot more than 30 times, at least 11 shots hit the vehicle. He also said that Portugal was in the region to inaugurate a project.
In a statement, the Military Police said it was triggered in the morning to check information on firearm shots in Antares: “According to information gathered at the scene, a vehicle was shot. The vehicle is armored.”
The Civil Police said that “agents immediately began steps to investigate the circumstances of the incident and identify the authorship of the crime.”
The Somos Party, of which the federal deputy is part, issued a note, signed by national president Renata Abreu and the municipal president Marcos Dias.
“We repudiate this cowardly act against a parliamentarian in the exercise of his mandate and express our total solidarity to the deputy. We charge the authorities rigorously in investigations and the proper punishment to those responsible. Democracy cannot live with the violent intimidation of its representatives,” says the text.
