The national president of the Copei party, Miguel Salazar, stated that he was willing to take up arms if necessary to defend the country’s sovereignty, although he emphasized the need to exhaust the tools they possess as parliamentarians.
During an interview conducted on the A Pulso program, Salazar declared that “if you defend the Homeland with a rifle in your hand, of course we will take the rifle,” and made reference to his training in a military high school and his ability to handle weapons. However, he stressed that parliamentarians must first advance the elements and tools of their function, which is dialogue.
The deputy to the National Assembly also assured that there is great motivation among the population to participate in the exercises of the Bolivarian Militia and pointed out that the defense of the Homeland is enshrined as a duty in the Constitution.
He mentioned the active participation of the population in different states such as La Guaira, Nueva Esparta, Aragua, Carabobo, Falcón and Zulia. In addition, he highlighted that these exercises are part of knowledge and citizen duty.
