The deputy to the National Assembly (AN) for the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Alexis Rodríguez Cabello, was on Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), talking about the attempted coup that Venezuela suffered on April 30, 2019.
Rodríguez Cabello, who at that time was Commander of the REDI Capital, played an important role in dismantling a new attack by the fascist right on Venezuelan democracy and sovereignty.
“In the early hours of the morning, I received a call informing me that some soldiers had stolen vehicles from the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and were in a suspicious attitude, near the La Carlota Air Base,” recalled the now deputy.
Rodríguez Cabello says that he was warned, once he wanted to go personally to those responsible for the coup attempt, that there were “commands” different from the Venezuelans and they did not handle the “same codes” and would try to take his life.
«Around six in the morning I was informed, by one of the Lieutenants who was blocking the highway, that they had been deceived. They had been taken there without knowing that they were going to lead such an operation. When the military saw the type of politicians that were coming to the scene, they quickly realized what it was all about,” Rodríguez Cabello added.
Representatives of the right, such as Juan Guaidó and Leopoldo López, were the intellectual authors behind that event, in which the Venezuelan official recalls how the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, asked “not to use weapons at any time.”
