Santo Domingo.- The Central American Parliament elected Ramón Emilio Goris Taveras as its President to complete the 2023-2024 term, in continuation of the Plenary Assembly Session, held in the auditorium of the Dominican Senate and virtually; headed by HD Guillermo Daniel Ortega Reyes, in his capacity as Acting President of the Board of Directors, which served as the Electoral Commission.

The Dominican Republic currently holds the presidency, according to the order of rotation in accordance with the Constitutive Treaty; the person elected to complete this period is the fourth Dominican to preside over PARLACEN.

Ramón Emilio Goris, is a Marketing Engineer with a specialty in Strategic Planning from George Washington University and is currently President of the Dominican Humanist Party, PHD.

He joined the Central American Parliament as a Deputy in 2016 and was re-elected in 2020 and 2024; during which time he has developed a fruitful parliamentary work as Vice President in 2020-2021 and Secretary of the Board of Directors in 2018-2019; he belongs to the Parliamentary Group for the Integration of the Democratic Center and has been a member of the Commission on Food Security, Agroindustrial Affairs, Environment, Natural Resources and Risk Management in the years 2016-2017 and 2017-2018.

Also elected as members of the Board of Directors were: Eddy Antonio Germán, as Secretary for the State of the Dominican Republic; Augusto Ernesto Batista Sánchez, as Vice President and Rodrigo Octavio Farrugia, as Secretary, for the State of Panama; members of the parliamentary groups that were sworn in yesterday.
Immediately afterwards, the acting President, Guillermo Daniel Ortega Reyes, swore in the elected parliamentarians and awarded them with distinctive pins, urging them to contribute to strengthening regional integration, before appointing them to their posts.
