Federal Deputy Pedro Lucas Fernandes (União Brasil-MA) declined the invitation to be the new Minister of Communications, in the place of Juscelino Filhowho left office.
His name had been announced by the minister From the presidency’s Institutional Relations Secretariat, Gleisi Hoffmann, on April 10, after the meeting between the deputy and President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
In a note published on social networks, The parliamentarian said he can contribute more to the country as leader of the Union Brazil bench in the House of Representatives.
“I am the leader of a plural party, with a diverse and committed bench with Brazil. I am fully convinced that, at this moment, I can contribute more to the country and the Government itself in the function I perform in the House of Representatives,” wrote Pedro Lucas.
According to him, the leadership allows to dialogue with different political forces, build consensus and assist in the formation of majorities in important agendas for the development of the country.
He apologized to Lula for the refusal.
“I receive your gesture with gratitude and reaffirm my disposition to institutional dialogue, always in favor of Brazil”.
