The Frente Amplio deputy Eduardo Antonini denounced Matías Silvera for threats, journalist Marcelo Umpiérrez reported and the legislator confirmed to The Observer.
Silvera is the son of the mayor of Treinta y Tres, Mario Silvera, and stepson of the deputy and former Minister of Tourism Germán Cardoso.
Antonini – who led the complaints against Cardoso in Parliament and later before the Prosecutor’s Office – told The Observer that he was this Saturday at the National Congress of Ediles, which is held at the Departmental Board of Maldonado and around 11 in the morning a person who introduced himself as Matías Silvera, from the department of Treinta y Tres, approached him.
According to the legislator, Silvera – who is also mayor of the department – told him: “You have done a lot of damage to my family and you are going to pay for that. It will not be today, it will not be tomorrow, but at some point you You’re going to pay for this.”
Antonini asked him who he was and if he had come to threaten him. “I am the stepson of Germán Cardoso, you would like me to come and threaten him, those who are going to charge him do not forgive,” the young man replied, according to the version of the MPP legislator.
The deputy denounced the facts in the Maldonado Prosecutor’s Office, whose prosecutor on duty is Ana Rosés. In addition, he informed the interior minister, Luis Alberto Heber, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Ope Pasquet, and the president of the Maldonado Departmental Board, Damián Tort, of what had happened. He also received a call from the president of the Broad Front, Fernando Pereira.
“In my role as national representative I made a complaint to the former minister, but I have never attacked any family (…) I will not let any type of threat pass. It does not do good to coexistence or the country. I am a big person with a family. It may or may not be a delusion,” Antonini said.
For his part, Silvera said that the complaint is an “absurd lie” and said that he will “criminally” denounce Antonini “for simulation of a crime.”
“If this absurd lie of @antonini_edu , I will file a criminal complaint for simulation of a crime. Lies will not prosper,” Silvera posted on her Twitter account.
