The deputy of the Socialist Party (PS), Emilia Nuyado, addressed the arrest and preventive detention decree on Héctor Llaitul, the leader of the Arauco-Malleco Coordinator (CAM) formalized for infractions of the State Security Law, violent usurpation, armed attacks against authority and simple theft. In the opinion of the PS parliamentarian, the situation “is the product of everything that has not been thoroughly addressed” with the indigenous peoples.
in conversation with TVN, Deputy Nuyado maintained that what happened with Llaitul “is worrying because there are substantive issues that should have been addressed throughout the formation of the State and to date they continue to be unresolved situations.” For the socialist activist “there are various ways in which the organizations have taken their own form of claiming and this is a consequence of not having listened and not having had the depth to respond to the indigenous and Mapuche peoples in their territorial claim.”

The PS legislator maintains that “regardless of the fact that many are happy and feast on this arrest, they have not required the governments to delve into what the answer is regarding this unresolved historical demand.” Likewise, emphasizing the 30 days of investigation imposed by the Prosecutor’s Office for the Llaitul case, Nuyado affirmed that “convincing evidence will have to be present for the so-called weichafe to be accused today.”
