Deputy Ilenia Medina says that the extremist right is moving away from politics

The deputy of the National Assembly (AN), Ilenia Medina He said on the program “Café en la Mañana” (Coffee in the Morning), broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), that “extremist sectors have left politics and have become involved in violence.” For this reason, he pointed out the need to debate legal instruments to preserve peace, such as the draft Law Against Fascism, Neofascism and Similar Expressions, which is currently in public consultation.

He explained that for some time now, those factors of domination that “feel that they are superior have been trying to impose themselves on the parties that agree with them.” These sectors have tried to eliminate this democratic process that has developed in Venezuela since the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez.

This is why there are elements that are being discussed in this draft law, such as the definition of fascism “as an ideological position based on racial superiority that assumes violence as a method of action,” Medina added.

The parliamentarian questioned the extreme right’s use of young people to create chaos, and therefore asked the authorities to investigate parents who use minors abroad to incite hatred.

He also said that the far right never presented the vote counting records requested by the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), describing the actions by this sector of the opposition to generate violence and instability as a setup.

Besides, Ilenia Medina He warned that transnational corporations that manage social media have placed themselves above States and “that is why we are seeing this effect,” such as X’s attacks on peace.
