The “renovator” deputy of the MAS, Rolando Cuéllar, described as a ‘political corpse’ to Evo Morales, referring to the fact that his administration ended in 2019. In addition, he asked the leader of his party to make way for new leaders. The former president did not remain silent and, without citing Cuéllar, responded via Twitter that “some (within his party) present themselves as a new generation, but practice old neoliberal tricks.”
Cuéllar announced that in the next general election article 168 of the Political Constitution of the State will be applied to ratify the Luis Arce-David Choquehuanca binomial and give continuity to the management of the current Government.
In this way, Cuéllar ruled out the candidacy of Evo Morales as a candidate for president for the MAS, because his term expired in 2019 and “Until now Mr. Evo Morales is a political corpseit should be played in politics and give space to new leaders ”.
He assured that the MAS has many cadres to give continuity to the 2025-2030 administration, where Evo Morales “is a hindrance”, because the presidential binomial of Lucho-David will be ratified in application of article 168 of the Political Constitution of the State that authorizes Luis Arce and David Choquehuanca for a new term.
Article 168 of the Magna Carta says: “The term of office of the presidency or the President and the Vice-President or the Vice-President of the State is five years, and they can be reelected or reelected once continuously.”
According to Cuéllar, there is no possibility of reconciliation in the internal struggle of the MAS. “Morales can call a meeting like he did last year three times and the national bench of the MAS did not attend the three times, which shows that Morales no longer has the power to convoke”, he stated.
“It would be a waste of time to go meet with Evo Morales, because he is not proposing anything new and only divides,” Cuéllar told Gigavisión, noting that the vice president of the MAS, Gerardo García, and the deputy Héctor Arce (both from the Evista wing) “they are going crazy. García is a political dead man and Héctor Arce is a political corpse who only looks for cameras and the only way is to lie,” Cuéllar said.
Evo responds through tweets
The aforementioned, Evo Morales, through his social networks said that “renewal cannot be an excuse for betrayal, corruption and division. In the MAS-IPSP we are a family between first and new generations. Young and old we work together for the homeland. Some present themselves as a new generation, but they practice old neoliberal tricks“.
“What was the plan of the coup leaders? To ban the MAS-IPSP. It is not possible that now a substitute deputy and a deputy who supposedly represent the MAS-IPSP present false letters and actions of unconstitutionality to do the same thing that the coup plotters wanted to do,” wrote the MAS leader.
In another post, he said that “the statute of the MAS-IPSP was approved by consensus last year to comply with the rules. Now there are some ministers who are not militants and are behind the lawsuits against the statute. They can’t handle false letters and use complaints.”
Evo concludes by indicating that “the MAS-IPSP is in the crosshairs of the right. Everything indicates that in its plan to destroy the MAS-IPSP have decided to oust its leadership and its statute. Eliminate Evo to eliminate MAS-IPSP. Those who attack us follow the plan of the imperialist right.”
In the midst of this internal crisis, the pro-government deputy Deisy Choque filed an Abstract Unconstitutionality Action, challenging various articles of the MAS statute that the wing “avoids” intends to apply to expel and recover spaces and seats of several deputies, senators, assembly members, “renovational” leaders and independent councilors.
