Deputy José Gregorio Correa (Acción Democrática – Cojedes) reiterated that it is necessary to generate confidence in the voter from the National Assembly. In addition, he dismissed an institutional crisis within the CNE, as stated by the main rectors Roberto Picón and Enrique Márquez when presenting their resignations.
Deputy Jose Gregorio Correa (Democratic Action – Cojedes) assured this Tuesday the 20th that they expect “before 70 days” to deliver to the plenary of the National Assembly elected in 2020 the names of the possible new rectors of the National Electoral Council (CNE).
In statements to the media after the second meeting of the commission, Correa ratified that “before 70 days we could be presenting to all Venezuelans the five principal rectors and the ten alternates in order to fill the absolute vacancies that currently exist.”
On June 15, eight principal and alternate rectors of the CNE –among them its president, Pedro Calzadilla– presented their resignation, without explaining their reasons. Calzadilla assured that the board of directors will remain in office until the National Assembly elected in 2020 chooses the new authorities. On Monday the 19th, the rector Roberto Picon He resigned from office and, a day later, Enrique Márquez also handed in his resignation.

He explained that they have already begun to receive applications from civil society to integrate the Electoral Applications Committee. “Since yesterday (Monday 19) when the process began, Venezuelans began to be received, last time it was an intensely acceptable number and we believe that this time it will be the same.”
The deputy reiterated that it is necessary to generate confidence in the voter from the National Assembly. In addition, he dismissed an institutional crisis within the CNE, as stated by the principal rectors Roberto Picón and Enrique Marquez when submitting their resignations.
«There is no crisis, a crisis is when there are no mechanisms provided for in the Constitution, but in the Magna Carta and the laws it is provided to do when there is an absolute vacancy, or as in this case what about the fifteen, as it should provide and that is what we are doing from the AN,” he said.
