Deputy Andres Celis (RN) presented a draft resolution to ask the President to increase by at least 50% the bonus that board members and members of the scrutineering college receive, after their participation in the electoral processes.
Currently, the payment is equivalent to 2/3 UF (about 20 thousand pesos) for each electoral act in which they participate. To this is added $ 6,900 pesos for those who attend the vocal training for the first time.
“I propose that this income be increased by 50%, considering that the work carried out by the members is the legitimation of the largest democratic act in the country,” said Deputy Celis, who is seeking reelection.
“This is one of the most fundamental tasks of public policy and the monetary reward must be equivalent to said work and the importance it has for Chile,” he added.
“It also constitutes a way of encouraging the participation of citizens as table members. The voucher must be adjusted to the reality of the country and the function performed. They are the ministers of faith in the electoral process, with long hours of work and, with great responsibility, that is why a more dignified bonus is the result of all justice, ”continued legislator RN.
“If this time, due to the proximity of the process, this bonus cannot be increased, this fact could well be considered for future elections, increasing the corresponding budget,” he said.
“The fundamental thing is that the idea that it is an insufficient bonus and that its increase must be analyzed urgently, to adjust it not only to the work carried out and its importance for the country, but also to the current cost of living”, the deputy closed.
