Federal Deputy Carla Zambelli was arrested by the Italian police on Tuesday afternoon (29) in Rome. The information was confirmed by sources of the Federal Police.
The deputy had fled from Brazil shortly after being sentenced by the Supreme Federal Court (STF) in May this year, 10 years in prison for invasion of electronic systems of the National Council of Justice (CNJ). Since then, she was fugitive from the Brazilian justice and on Interpol’s list of wanted.
In a statement, the Federal Police states that “the prisoner was sought by crimes committed in Brazil and will be submitted to the extradition process, according to the procedures provided for in the Italian legislation and in the international agreements of which Brazil is a signatory.”
Italian deputy Angelo Bonelli said in his X account that he reported to the Italian police an address in Rome in which Zambelli was staying.
“Carla Zambelli is in an apartment in Rome. I gave the address to the police, and the police are already identifying Zambelli,” Bonelli published on Rede X.

In June, the deputy had asked the Italian government urgent in the extradition of Zambelli. At the time he argued that Italian citizenship cannot be used to escape a conviction.
Zambelli was sentenced to 10 years in prison By invasion of electronic systems of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), episode that occurred in 2023. According to investigations, the invasion was performed by hacker Walter Delgatti, who confirmed that he had done the work at the behest of the parliamentary. Two weeks after being convicted, the Deputy left Brazil to avoid serving the sentence.

Carla Zambelli also responds to a criminal case in the Supreme Court. In August 2023, Zambelli turned back to the Supreme for the episode in which she drew a firearm and chased journalist Luan Araújo, on the eve of the second round of the 2022 elections.
The persecution began after Zambelli and Luan exchanged provocations during a political act in the Jardins neighborhood of São Paulo.
To date, the Supreme Court has registered a score of 6 votes to 0 to condemn the parliamentarian to 5 years and 3 months in prison under a semi -open regime. However, a request for a view of Minister Nunes Marques postponed the conclusion of the trial.
