The deputy and president of the Chamber’s Constitution Commission, Karol Cariola, confirmed that the Communist Party is evaluating its support for the project that seeks a fifth withdrawal of pension funds and also defended herself against criticism from the center-left that accuses her to delay the process.
“We as a Communist Party bench have said it on other occasions, we are not indolent, nor are we unaware of the reality that Chileans are experiencing, we know that there is a complex economic situation in our country, and that is the reason why we are analyzing all the elements on the table, for the discussion regarding aid, including bills, withdrawal and others,” Cariola said.
One of the critics of the PC parliamentarian is the PPD-independent deputy, René Alinco, who summoned her to give urgency to the discussion of the measure.
“I would like to send a message to the deputies of the Communist Party, it is a member of the Communist Party, Karol Cariola, who has to make the decision that the fifth withdrawal begins to be discussed. Do not delay this discussion any longer,” he emphasized.
Cariola responded to the summons and stated that parliamentarians from the transversal caucus of the withdrawals “are untrue” with their statements.
“Unfortunately they have been untrue with their statements, in none of these meetings have we manifested, I in particular, a veto to the processing of bills, including the fifth withdrawal. The fifth withdrawal project has already begun its processing process in real terms,” he said.
“We are going to discuss in the first point of the table the merger that they try to accuse me of a kind of dilation of the processing of a project when it is not true,” he added.
During this day, the commission will define the formula and the times of debate, where it is expected that from next week the majority of merged projects will be prioritized for next Tuesday, April 12.
