Antonini filed a criminal complaint in the Maldonado Departmental Prosecutor’s Office against the mayor of the National Party for Thirty-Three Matías Silvera, who is the son of the mayor of said department, Mario Silvera, and stepson of the Colorado deputy and former Minister of Tourism, Germán Cardoso.
The incident occurred while the National Congress of Ediles was being held in the Departmental Board of Maldonado.
“You have done a lot of damage to my family and you are going to pay for that. It’s not going to be today, it’s not going to be tomorrow, but at some point you’re going to pay for this”, said the white mayor Silveira to Antonini who decided to file the complaint.
Antonini was one of the promoters of the Investigative Commission for the alleged irregularities in Cardoso’s management in the Ministry of Tourism.
FA expressed deep concern
For its part, the bench of deputies of the Broad Front issued a statement through which it declares its deepest concern about the event that occurred this Saturday, July 2, in the Departmental Board of Maldonado.
“On the occasion of the Permanent Table of the Congress of Mayors, the deputy of the Broad Front for the department of Maldonado, Eduardo Antonini, was approached and threatened by the mayor of the National Party for the department of Treinta y Tres, Matías Silvera Ortiz ”, details the FA in its statement.
At the same time, the Frente Amplio deputies state that the mayor, presenting himself as “stepson of the former Minister of Tourism and current deputy for the department of Maldonado, Germán Cardoso, told him: ‘he will pay for what he did, it will not be neither today nor tomorrow’, he also added that ‘those who are going to charge him do not forgive’”.
“Deputy Antonini has already filed the corresponding complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office, the president of the Departmental Board of Maldonado, mayor Damián Tort, was made aware of the facts; the president of the House of Representatives, Ope Pasquet, as well as the Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber”, assured the FA.
On the other hand, the Frente Amplio legislators repudiate any manifestation that attempts against democratic coexistence, against the free exercise of the functions of national representatives and express all their solidarity with Antonini.
