Deputy Andrés Celis (RN) officiates to the SII to investigate financing of Team Patriota

Deputy Andres Celis (RN) officiated to the national director of the Internal Revenue Service (SII), Hernan Frigolettreporting a series of background information on the financing of Team Patriota, led by Francis Munoz -better known as bad hot dog, former leader of the White Claw. The legislator requested that an eventual evasion or non-compliance with the Donations Law be investigated.

According to the parliamentarian in the letter, the group would be sustained through digital platforms, through which it would collect donations that would be directed to a bank account. The foregoing, “obviously does not comply with tax obligations in terms of donations and facilitates evasion because it is not transparent if the recipient has the legal formalities,” he explained.

The same account used to finance Team Patriota was also used to pay for the legal defense of the organization’s leader, Pancho Malo. That would allow us to presume that the amounts could be integrated into the personal assets of Francisco Muñoz, which, according to the Law, would make the payment of taxes required.

“Everything indicates that we would be facing a donation that is subject to the obligation to declare and pay the corresponding tax, prior to the insinuation process. However, and despite the proximity to political-electoral causes, it is evident that these are not donations subject to electoral statute. Indeed, as of the date of this presentation, the donations portal is in force, but the special regime for donations established by Law No. 19,884 is not, ”says the official letter.

“I asked the Internal Revenue Service to monitor compliance with tax regulations and to summon Francisco Muñoz to testify if necessary, in order to fully clarify the facts. If the transgression is verified, I hope that the procedures to apply the corresponding sanctions will be initiated,” said deputy Andrés Celis.

“In addition, the self-styled Team Patriota could have failed to pay the donation tax rate and other electoral procedures,” he said.

“If an intentional act aimed at circumventing taxes is verified, the members of the group could be prosecuted and sanctioned according to the Tax Code. The foregoing would require the complaint or complaint of the Internal Revenue Service, who I trust will act quickly and firmly Celis argued.

Let us remember that Team Patriota has carried out funas against different parliamentarians -especially from Chile Vamos- who have expressed their intention to continue with the constituent process.

The leader of the group, Pancho Malo, was convicted of murder in 2000 and was imprisoned for six months.
