The president of the Commission for Families, Freedom of Religion and Cults of the National Assembly, Asia Villegas, informed this Wednesday that this legislative body, together with the Ministry of Popular Power for Women and Gender Equality, set up four work tables to expand the process of discussion and presentation of proposals that are presented by parliamentarians, regional legislators and councilors.
In addition, there was a debate on the challenges of women in the productive area, the role of older adults and the organization for revolutionary action, with innovative proposals.
In the meeting held in the Protocol Chamber of the Legislative Palace, representatives of 21 of the 24 entities of the country participated.
Villegas specified that “we have designed a table work, which was a previous discussion work, not only of the methodology, but of the thematic areas”, taking into account the projection to the year 2030 exposed by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro. .
The deputy also stressed that the working groups cover “not only the 2023 legislative agenda, but the incorporation of legislative proposals and initiatives that strengthen social street parliamentarianism.”
The Minister for Women and Gender Equality, Diva Guzmán, also participated in the activity, who highlighted the progress made in the Bolivarian Revolution in terms of women’s participation in public life and in instances of power.
To this effect, the minister referred as an example that 42% of the parliamentarians are present in the National Assembly, and in the case of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, leadership is seen in the internal structure and the presentation of legislative proposals to strengthen the rights of women, in addition to promoting their participation in decision-making of national interest.
