Deputies from Honduras classify Ortega as “criminal” for nationalizing former JOH officials

Two deputies from the Salvador Party of Honduras, Suyapa Figueroa and Maribel Espinoza, criticized the granting of Nicaraguan nationalization to former officials of the government of Juan Orlando Hernández, the former Minister of the Presidency Ebal Díaz and Ricardo Cardona, former private secretary of the former president.

In an interview with Radio América, Figueroa, who represents the party of the Vice President of Honduras, Salvador Nasralla, said that “Nicaragua once again looks very bad in the eyes of international opinion,” after Daniel Ortega decided to hand over the nationality to the accused former officials. by the Public Ministry of committing acts of corruption and diversion of public funds.

“This is not a matter of ideologies, it is a matter of criminals, as is the Government of Nicaragua, a government that violates human rights and protects other criminals who, in addition to looting the country, have also violated human rights. Once again, Nicaragua looks very bad in the eyes of international opinion, receiving in its country all those criminals who have looted the homeland,” continued the official from the Xiomara Castro government.

According to Radio América, the deputy Maribel Espinoza He regretted that the Honduran Public Ministry has not acted in time and prosecuted those former officials linked to acts of corruption, who had the opportunity to take refuge in Nicaragua. “Just as these two gentlemen left the country and sought Nicaraguan nationality, others are going to do the same, and the people of Honduras are not going to be vindicated,” Espinoza warned.

After the decision of the Public Ministry to freeze the bank accounts of Díaz and Cardona, the PSH deputy assured that “it is a late action”, since she considered that “not only four million lempiras have been looted from the government coffers, I imagine that that money has already come out just as (they) came out with all the impunity of our country ».

Likewise, he regretted that the former officials have not been immediately arrested and prosecuted by the competent authorities, but instead, now enjoy complete impunity in Nicaragua.

The nationalities of both were approved by the General Directorate of Migration and Foreigners (DGME) on June 17, 2022, the requests of the former Honduran officials were approved by the deputy director of the DGME, regimental commander Pablo José Morales Luna, less than a month after Hernández was extradited to the United States to answer for drug trafficking crimes.

Hernández, 53, is accused of three crimes allegedly committed between 2004 and 2022: conspiracy to import cocaine, possession of machine guns and heavy weapons, and conspiracy to possess said weapons, for which he could face life in prison.
