The Chamber of Deputies failed to comply with the mandate of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation to legislate on six issues before April 30, among which are spending on social communication, the use of force and the suspension of guarantees . This is due to the lack of agreements between the political forces.
Of 15 issues resolved by the ministers, the deputies complied with four. Of them, three were sent to the Senate and the other has already been approved in both chambers. The pending in the Reforma building have to do with the regulation of marijuana, modifications to the Federal Penal Code in matters of racial discrimination and the Law of Prior Consultation with Indigenous Peoples. The issue that has already been resolved is that of the Federal Mandate Revocation Law.
According to information from the General Secretariat of the Chamber of Deputies, it had until April 14 and 30 to legislate on six issues, such as expenses in social communication, rights to hearings and suspension of guarantees, as well as to issue the General Law of the water. But he didn’t.
In fact, the Water Resources Commission only began work last June to comply with the Court’s ruling to issue the water legislation.
For the end of July and next September, the deadlines expire for the deputies to legislate on three other issues related to the widow’s pension for concubines and indigenous education.
Without an expiration date to comply with the ministers’ order, the Chamber has two more issues, which have to do with the Federal Telecommunications Law and conscientious objection.
On this last topic, the Health Commission approved an opinion, but it needs to go to the plenary session of San Lázaro for analysis.
In addition to failing to comply with the judicial mandates, the deputies continue without advancing in other reform initiatives, for which the board of directors has urged the commissions to present their opinions.
