Departures, advice of televised ministers and other changes that would come for the government

On the afternoon of this Tuesday, February 4the nation witnessed the Council of Ministers which was carried out in the house of Nariño. The transmission, which was announced suddenly, lasted about five hours, two of which were televised in the national chain.

Throughout the day, President Gustavo Petro presented the members of his cabinet the commitments acquired with the people that have not been fulfilled in the time that his administration has active. The meeting thus resulted in several accusations by its members.

Although the act has been the target of criticism, President Gustavo Petro announced that it will not be the last time these meetings are presented publicly.

Through his X account, the first president explained that he made the determination to transmit the Council to obtain a response from the cabinet with respect to the high percentage of breach that is being presented in the different dependencies.

The Head of State also announced that From now on all this type meetings will be presented live with a view to the citizens knowing what is happening. “The Councils of Ministers will all be televised, some in chain, others by public TV, the people have the right to know what their government does and how is their government directly and without misinforming intermediaries”he clarified.

President Petro also pointed out that it is democratic to expose the government to light, since in this way the people do not remain indifferent to politics.

More changes, in sight?

In his message, the president also emphasized that a readjustment will be carried out in the executive’s structure. This with a view to being fulfilled and the government project is followed.

In that sense, he stressed that the cabinet will be adjusted according to the level of execution of each ministry. “I want in what is left of time, and after great progress in some subjects and little progress in others, a united and transparent government for the people and with the people. I do not want a government with double agendas, but not in a single color , because the people are multicolored.he added.

Besides, The president stressed that he had previously told his ministers that they could retire If they were among their aspirations to campaign and that those who wanted to continue working in compliance with the government program could stay.

“The cabinet is an instrument to execute the promise made to the people. Duty is to fulfill,” concluded.
