The Departmental Board held this Tuesday, August 23, a tribute in the Delmira Agustini room to health personnel from the Intendancy polyclinics, for their work and commitment during the health emergency caused by Covid-19.
The recognition was attended by Sofía Espillar, president of the Departmental Board; Mercedes Clara, director of the Department of Social Development; Virginia Cardozo, director of the Health Division; María Victoria Tejera, representative of the health team of the Intendancy Polyclinics, and the interim Minister of Public Health, José Satdjian.
The role of officials and officials was key to mitigating the effects of the pandemic, since they were on the front line of care.
The departmental polyclinics have free access and are located in areas of Montevideo where there are situations of poverty and social exclusion, with important consequences on the health situation of the population. In addition, there are geographical, cultural and economic limitations of accessibility to health services.
The polyclinics contribute to the construction of the first level of care in Montevideo, with the development of a Primary Health Care (PHC) strategy, as a key element of the integrated national health system.
At the beginning of this administration, in the midst of a pandemic, for the first time the polyclinics extended their hours and days of care.
The video call service system was also implemented. Vaccination clinics were operated in the polyclinics and nursing staff from the Intendancy collaborated in vaccination posts against covid-19 located outside them.
The officials of these dependencies also carry out tasks in the mobile polyclinics, which through the Basic Support Plan for Citizenship (ABC) travel through neighborhoods of the city making health services more accessible.
