Denis Moncada visits Iran amid hangings and protests

Denis Moncada Irán

The Nicaraguan Foreign Minister, Denis Moncadaaffirmed this Monday, December 19, that his country will face US domination together with “brother” Iran, the country where he is on an official visit.

“Iran and Nicaragua are friends and brothers. We will resist domination and we will win, ”Moncada said at the Tehran Dialogue forum, the city where he arrived yesterday to strengthen relations with the Persian country.

The head of Nicaraguan diplomacy He indicated that the United States endangers international peace with “its violations of international law” and accused Washington of trying to provoke a third world war with the war in Ukraine.

Faced with US “domination”, Moncada praised Iranian policies that “emphasize international law and the development of relations based on trust.”

“We believe in building a better, multipolar and inclusive world based on respect for countries. “We raise the right flags for the good of humanity,” she said.

Moncada arrived in Tehran yesterday Sunday and held a meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Hosein Amir Abdolahian, with whom he signed a series of agreements to strengthen relations between the two countries.

The visit of the Nicaraguan Foreign Minister comes amid the protests that have shaken Iran since the death in September Mahsa Amini after being arrested by the Morality Police for not wearing the Islamic veil properly.

More than 400 people have died in the protests, thousands have been arrested and two have been executed for their participation in demonstrations calling for the end of the Islamic Republic, founded by Ayatollah Ruholá Khomeini in 1979.

Promises from Iran to Nicaragua to “neutralize sanctions”

This rapprochement is another attempt by the Ortega regime to achieve some kind of cooperation agreement with the Persian nation. In May this year, Iran’s Oil Minister Javab Owji led a visit by a high-level commission in Nicaraguapromised to supply oil derivatives to the country, assuring Daniel Ortega that “together” they can “neutralize the aggressions and sanctions.”

“We forcefully condemn the unjust aggressions of some powers and the intervention in the internal affairs of Nicaragua,” he stressed, while declaring that they were “friends and brothers” of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, three regimes considered hostile to the United States and that they are singled out by the international community for perpetrating human rights violations.

During the official visit, the minister and Ortega signed a memorandum of understanding and alleged contracts in oil and agriculture, the official documents of which are still unknown.

Owji said they would study the possibility of investing in the failed refinery the Supreme Dream of Bolívar, a project of 4000 million dollars devised in 2007 by the then president Hugo Chávez that was reduced to a storage plant in which 510 million dollars were invested.
