During the day this Saturday, the Ministry of Public Health carried out activities to promote the vaccination of the population of children and adults. Games, surprises, gifts, recreational dynamics and informative talks were part of the proposal of this State portfolio to make people aware of the possibility of continuing to share together thanks to the protection provided by the vaccine against COVID-19.
Likewise, the Ministry of Public Health announced the launch of the #YaOvalemaCovid ¡Vaccinate therefore! campaign, with the aim of strengthening the immunization of the population against the virus through the availability of the Moderna vaccine, whose effectiveness is greater than 95% according to scientific evidence.
“In the month of spring and youth, we are renewing this fight with more force, because we find that the impacts of vaccines have paid off. Although this fight finds us at a time when we must improve the coverage of the reinforcements, especially in the elderly. Today, that sets us an objective and it makes me happy to see that we are in this together”, highlighted Dr. Héctor Castro, director of the PAI.
Lawyer Teresa Martínez, Minister of Children and Adolescents, for her part, urged parents to complete the vaccination schedules for children. “Let us not forget the clamor we made for vaccines, the anguish we have experienced to have tools to fight COVID-19. It is very important that we do so, so that we can all enjoy our activities, especially in this month of youth”, stressed the Minister.
For her part, Dr. Lida Sosa, Deputy Minister of the Rectory and Health Surveillance, stated that there is a new challenge, which is to encourage the population to get vaccinated against COVID-19 through the #YaOvalemaCovid campaign. Get vaccinated! “With this challenge we seek that people complete their schemes and those who have not been vaccinated, do so, because it is the only way we can avoid new waves and cut off community circulation,” stressed Dr. Lida Sosa.
The event was held within the framework of the availability of the 500,000 doses of Moderna, which arrived in the country and are now available to the entire population in all the vaccination posts authorized by the health portfolio.
Thus, it is also reiterated and the population is urged to understand that, for a decrease in community viral circulation, adequate vaccination coverage must be achieved in the population. The schematics are detailed below:
●From 6 to 11 years old: first and second dose.
●From 12 to 17 years old: first, second and a booster dose.
●Ages 18 and older: first and second doses, plus two booster doses.
