DENDE leaders know ITAIPU’s productive potential and socioeconomic significance

As part of the implementation of its Leadership Development Program, managers and members of the Development in Democracy Foundation (DENDE) learned in depth the productive potential of the ITAIPU Hydroelectric Power Plant and were informed firsthand about the economic and social significance of the Binational for the country.

The visit took place this Thursday, July 7, and was part of the trip that the foundation makes annually, under the name “Knowing the productive potential of Paraguay.”

The delegation was made up of 45 participants who hold relevant positions in different sectors of our country, and for whom it is of paramount importance to know in detail what the ITAIPU Hydroelectric Power Plant represents for Paraguay, as a generator of energy and engine of development.

The group was led by the president of DENDE, Alberto Acosta Garbarino, who in the conversation that marked the corollary of the visit, pointed out that it is impossible to imagine the future of national development without knowing the real meaning of ITAIPU.

On behalf of the Executive Board, the financial director of the Entity, Fabián Domínguez, explained that the hydroelectric venture contributes to Paraguay, in various royalties, the equivalent of 30% of what the country collects in internal taxes annually.

The occasion was also propitious for the head of the Financial Directorate to answer queries from DENDE leaders on the progress of the negotiations for the definition of the rate for the year 2022 and the implications of the review of Annex C of the Treaty.

The visit began with the projection of an institutional video of ITAIPU, to then attend a talk on the projects that the ITAIPU Paraguay Technology Park (PTI Py) faces, to leverage innovative projects in both the business and social spheres. The exhibition was in charge of the executive director of the Park, engineer José Bogarín.

Next, the visitors made a stop at the Central Viewpoint of the Right Bank, to then share a presentation on the management of water resources carried out by ITAIPU professionals, which was in charge of the manager of the Division of Hydrological and Energy Studies of the Technical Direction, Giovanni Gomes.

Subsequently, they learned about the tasks that are carried out in the Load Dispatch Room to meet the power demand of ANDE and ENBPar, to later experience in situ the strength with which one of the ITAIPU generating units works, finally visiting the emblematic Cota 40, where the old bed of the Paraná River is exhibited between high and powerful concrete walls. The visit was guided by specialists from the Public Relations Management, dependent on the Social Communication Advisory.
