Democratic Center recognizes that Petro was a "historical change"but with the price of the dollar

This Thursday the price of the dollar in Colombia broke a new record and reached $4,900. The currency opened the day in $4,840 driven by international and national variables, according to the Colombian Stock Exchange (BVC). After a couple of minutes, the currency marked a new all-time high, reaching $4,921, figure reported by the entity.

Due to this situation, the Petro Government has received hundreds of criticisms, since many consider that the soaring price of the dollar is due to the uncertainty generated by the statements of high-ranking officials regarding the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons.

Precisely, the Democratic Center, the main opposition party of this Government, He made a harsh criticism of Gustavo Petro and the motto of his party that speak of a change for Colombia.

In an image that they shared through their social networks, they acknowledge that Petro did mean “a historic change”, but referring to the price of the dollar, remembering that with Álvaro Uribe was around $1,600, and when his term ended it was at $1,709, in contrast to the current price.

“We were happy and we did not know it. The only government that did not allow the devaluation of the Colombian peso was that of Álvaro Uribe. During his government we had the opportunity to take advantage of a great historical change that contributed to the country’s economy”they wrote in the official party account.
