The Democratic Action party (AD) expressed its support for the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence and Peace, proposed by the National Government and the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez. The general secretary of the organization, Bernabé Gutiérrez, stated that the initiative must be accompanied by economic measures that directly benefit the population.
“The Amnesty Law and the new oil revenues must guarantee reconciliation and an urgent salary increase for our people. We do nothing with sown oil if a drop does not reach each Venezuelan, especially our workers, retirees and pensioners,” said Gutiérrez in a message published on his Instagram account.
The opposition leader assured that AD has historically promoted the Amnesty Law and that, if it had a parliamentary majority, it would already be a reality. “We remain firm in the national consultation for its approval,” he added, while ratifying his party’s willingness to attend each meeting called by the National Government in favor of understanding.
Commitment to national reconciliation
Gutiérrez stressed that to achieve reconciliation, “heart, will and courage are required to say goodbye to hatred.” He stressed that Democratic Action’s commitment is to the greatness and development of the country, and that the Amnesty Law represents a step towards democratic coexistence and overcoming political differences.
The proposal, approved in the first discussion unanimously in the National Assembly, seeks to benefit politicians imprisoned since 1999 and consolidate a framework of peace and institutional stability.
Support for the transformation of the Helicoid
On February 2, Democratic Action also supported the Government’s initiative to transform the Helicoide facilities into a social, sports and cultural center aimed at the well-being of the community. The political organization considered that the project represents progress in the recovery of public spaces and in the construction of a symbol of peace and citizen coexistence.
The proposal was announced by Delcy Rodríguez as part of the policy of humanization of strategic infrastructures, and AD agreed that this reconversion will contribute to the social fabric and community integration.
