«Delcy warns of plans to «derail and disrupt» the process of coexistence and peace

This Monday, the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, received victims of violence for political purposes in the Sol del Perú room of the Miraflores Palace within the framework of the Amnesty Law, from where she denounced the existence of plans by extremist sectors to “derail” the path to peace.

«I am aware of some sectors that are not giving the correct reading to what is happening in the country, that they are measuring it from a partisan political defeat. On January 3 we lost all Venezuelans. There was no winner in this country, but there are sectors that are giving an incorrect reading of the amnesty law and the Democratic Coexistence program,” he reiterated. «And they already have plans, and in due course I am going to make them known, so that it is known who, from a luxurious hotel in the US or in Europe, intends to derail this process, they intend to disturb the path of peace in Venezuela and that it is the Venezuelan people who judge and who say what we should do, because enough is enough. And there I do say no repetition and there I call for divine and true justice, because this process that we are all building must be taken care of.

Rodríguez highlighted the exacerbated hatred of some sectors, which led them to ask for foreign intervention.

«The hatred of an economic and political class has been such that they asked for foreign intervention, what they could not resolve in national politics, they asked for it with missiles, with bombs; A nuclear military power in this hemisphere was asked to come and resolve it (…), but I thought that the first thing to cure is hatred. (…) The arms of Venezuela are open to those who want to return in this process of healing hate,” he remarked.

Repair the deficiencies of justice

The president in charge insisted on the need for Venezuela to heal the wounds of hatred and also noted the deficiencies of justice for the victims of this entire process, as she invited all sectors to join the Democratic Coexistence Program to work for the peace of all Venezuelans.

«Justice will never return our loved ones, but it must be said, there is a lack of justice for the victims and that is why not only the amnesty law is enough, but we have incorporated the Democratic Coexistence for Peace program. Justice should be for everyone, but justice has been at such a level of threat that it has been permeated by the various powers. I ask for a new justice for all. “Venezuela needs to heal,” he reiterated to the victims of violence present in the room.

Rodríguez made an urgent call to transform the Venezuelan justice system so that it is truly inclusive.

The genesis of hate

Rodríguez, who said that he would speak as a victim of the violence of Puntofijismo, assured that there have been some triggering factors in the political violence: socioeconomic exclusion, and the exclusion of those who have had anti-national projects, which violate the sovereignty and independence of Venezuela.

He remembered the officials who fell during the violent demonstrations of 2014 and 2017 where war devices were used. “The captain of the National Guard is an example of this,” he highlighted.

He also made reference to the struggles of the 60s and 70s and the deed of January 23, 1958. «They were also young fighters who had ideas of a free and independent country against a political class that had betrayed, whose projects had the surrender of Venezuela in their column. And hence the inclusion that the Chávez period brought.

«Bringing the poorest to the table so that they were recognized as people, but that did not exterminate the germ of hatred and racism, discrimination against those who are different. What we did not experience in the Chávez period: coups d’état, paralysis of the country’s main industry, attempted assassination and class hatred was at the genesis of all this,” he highlighted.

“Hatred led us to this, I thought when I had to assume this responsibility,” he said, referring to January 3, when he assumed the presidency of the Republic after the United States military attacks.

“The first thing I thought about was the Democratic Coexistence Program for peace,” he said after remembering that during the Constituent Assembly the Law for Peaceful Coexistence against expressions of hate and intolerance had already been approved.

«How do we heal hate? -he asked himself. «The right to dignity of those who are diverse. The right of Orlando (Figuera), from his condition of poverty, from his political thinking and his skin color. Venezuela needs to heal, I told myself. This has taken us very far, to the planting abroad, with media powers, of falsehoods and dangerous lies about Venezuela that seek to justify the intervention of our country and an extremist situation in the field of international law, completely diminished and undermined, the kidnapping of President Maduro and the first lady of Venezuela. Let’s think as Venezuelans if this didn’t go too far»… he reflected.

The president said that one of the objectives of the meeting was to thank them for the detachment of the victims. «Forgiveness is detachment from oneself, from particular and personal pain, but also what the victims have said, being able to receive them asking for forgiveness, and I believe that that cannot be in a law; The commitment to non-repetition is a human condition. The human being cannot be taken by hatred; You must also find forgiveness.

The victims

Larry Davoe, member of the Program for Democratic Coexistence and Peace, reported that in the meeting with the president (e) there were both people who have suffered the consequences of violence in their bodies, as well as people who have lost their loved ones for this same reason, who ask for justice, for them to be recognized and have access to the mechanisms of our legal framework, who nevertheless remain open to maintaining the reconciliation process.

Inés Esparragoza, mother of Orlando Figuera, remembered her 15 days of suffering in the hospital. «They murder him because of his skin color, dark. My son ran through the streets of Altamira, set on fire, and they were stabbing him. They took away a tricolor bag that she had ordered. They stabbed him 10 times. That day I was fired when they found out that Orlando was my son and they didn’t give me any money, because Orlando Figuera’s mother was black. My son is going to be dead for 9 years and I have been waiting for 9 years for my son’s murderers to be imprisoned.

For his part, deputy Jorge Arreaza confirmed that, thanks to the law, 177 releases, 800 additional release tickets and 2,735 precautionary measures have already been carried out. For this reason, the National Coexistence Program was activated to seek spiritual and human reparation for those affected by the protests of 2014 and 2017.

In development…
