Under the premise that “the Homeland is humanity”, the president in charge of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, highlighted the spiritual cohesion of the Venezuelan people in the face of difficulties. “We are not warriors, we are men and women of state, dignified and with deep spiritual wealth,” he said during the ceremony to recognize those who fell during the defense of the territory, on January 3.
He pointed out that the fundamental difference lies in the moral superiority of those who defend their sovereignty. He reiterated that the concept of Homeland in Venezuela transcends borders and is based on love, reaffirming that the country will continue to set an example of dignity before the world, keeping its head high and its spirit unbreakable in the face of any attempt at subordination.
“We will give lessons in international diplomacy”
In a message addressed directly to the people of the United States, the president in charge emphasized that recent events leave a stain on the history of bilateral relations, but clarified that Venezuela will not act motivated by hatred. «It is not revenge, it is vindication; “We will give lessons in international diplomacy,” he said.
Rodríguez evoked the military doctrine of the Father of the Nation, Simón Bolívar, highlighting that the Venezuelan Army has been formed for defense and not for war. “Bolívar never taught to use supremacy to humiliate anyone, there was always respect for the dignity of the adversary,” he stated, recalling the Bolivarian maxim: “freedom is the only objective worthy of the sacrifice of men.”
Likewise, he highlighted that the men and women at arms in Venezuela wear the uniform to protect the Republic and defend national morality. In this sense, he elevated to the category of Heroes of the Homeland not only the fallen Venezuelan combatants, but also the brothers of Cuba, children of Martí and the Commander of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, who died in defense of Venezuelan soil.
Victims Commission
Rodríguez announced the creation of a commission for the comprehensive support of the heroes’ relatives. «I have seen the faces of mothers, I saw the face of a woman, a woman, my mother, when they murdered my father. In the faces of the wives of the fallen, I have seen the face of my mother, who also lost a husband, and in the faces of the girls and boys who lost their parents, I have seen the faces of Jorge and me, when as children we also lost our father who was vilely murdered,” he said.
He ratified absolute loyalty to the constitutional thread and to the president, Nicolás Maduro: “We have historical dignity and we have commitment and loyalty to President Nicolás Maduro, who has been kidnapped. “We have loyalty to the first combatant, Congressman Cilia Flores, and we have committed not to rest until we see them free, back to their home and back to their homeland.”
Likewise, he announced the construction of a space for the eternal memory of those who did not surrender to foreign aggression. “Rest assured that Venezuela also accompanies us in this journey, and that is why we have decided to build a monument in honor of our heroes, heroines and martyrs,” he reported.
At the end of his speech, he expressed: «Honor and glory to the men and women who died in combat. Here no one surrendered, here there was combat, and there was combat for this Homeland, there was combat for our liberators, for Miranda, for Sucre, for Ribas, for Urdaneta, for Manuel Piar, for Ezequiel Zamora, for our liberating father Simón Bolívar, here there was combat for Chávez and here there was combat for Venezuela, that is our greatest satisfaction.
