Delcy Rodríguez says that Venezuela is calm after a month of the US attack

The president in charge of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, assured this Tuesday that the country is “calm” after a month of the United States attack in Caracas and surrounding states, an operation that ended with the capture of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

“The country is calm. The country is calm, but it has a national cry: to ask for the freedom of President Maduro and the first combatant, Congresswoman Cilia Flores,” said Delcy Rodríguez, accompanied by her brother and President of Parliament, Jorge Rodríguezand the Minister of the Interior and Justice, Diosdado Cabello.

In a broadcast on the state channel VTV, the president in charge indicated that in “these days”, without specifying details, she spoke by phone with the president of the United States, Donald Trump, and with his Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, and advocated that the “way” be respect.

“If there is something that has united Venezuelans, it is the rejection of this type of aggression (…), it is that the differences, the controversies, the divergences with the United States government must be done diplomatically, through political dialogue,” stressed Delcy Rodríguez.

Likewise, he stated that Venezuela “has transmuted and matured” after a month of the United States attack – which left more than a hundred dead, including civilians and soldiers – and opted to “work hard” to “overcome” the “differences.”

Maduro remains in a United States prison and is accused of four federal charges, including narcoterrorism conspiracy, conspiracy to import cocaine, and collaborating with criminal organizations classified as terrorist by Washington.

On January 5, two days after Maduro’s capture, Delcy Rodríguez took office as president in charge of the country and has implemented a series of measures that, she assures, were the president’s decision.

Rodríguez began an “exploratory” process to resume diplomatic relations with the United States, the sale of oil to that country was agreed and, in addition, he promoted a reform to the organic hydrocarbon law to attract private and foreign investments to this sector.
