Delcy Rodríguez: reform of the Hydrocarbons Law reflects national cohesion

The acting president Delcy Rodríguez Maduro promulgated this Thursday the Partial Reform of the Hydrocarbons Law, after receiving from the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, the text that was approved unanimously during the ordinary session this Thursday. “This law reaffirms the sovereignty of our energy resources,” he said when signing the law.

Through a massive march in support of the reform of the new norm, oil sector workers accompanied the board of directors of the National Assembly to present the new legal text to the president in charge to the Miraflores Palace in Caracas.

«In this law is the vision of the future of President Nicolás Maduro. “We are fulfilling it and the people of Venezuela,” he said upon receiving the Hydrocarbons Law and thanked the president of the National Assembly for having taken the first step to demonstrate that a united Venezuela is possible. “It is the first time that a law has been voted unanimously that reflects and symbolizes national unity, national cohesion,” he remarked.

Rodríguez insisted that having the largest oil reserves on the planet is of no use to the country if they cannot be converted into salaries, food, health and education for the people. “This law allows us the true historical, qualitative leap to convert these oil reserves, the largest on the planet, into the happiness of the people.”

He recalled that the resources generated in the management of Venezuelan crude oil businesses will go to sovereign funds to improve public services, affected by the blockade, and improve the protection of the people.

«We are changing business management parameters, but the resources must go to the two sovereign funds to improve the conditions of Venezuelans, one for social protection and the second for infrastructure. This historic step that we have taken is for the future of our country,” he expressed. The resources generated in the management of Venezuelan crude oil businesses will go to sovereign funds to improve public services, affected by the blockade, and improve the protection of the people.

He thanked the workers of the oil industry for everything they have done for Venezuela. «There has not been a moment in history where they have not been on the front line in defense of our country. In the hardest moments, his hardworking hands were there, to give social happiness to our people, to Venezuela,” he expressed.

Foreign and national investment welcome

Rodríguez highlighted that this legal instrument grants greater security and legal value to both international investments that arrive in the country, as well as national investments linked to the energy sector.

In this context, he stated that Venezuela welcomes foreign and national investment, aimed at productive development in the areas of oil, gas and petrochemicals, as part of the strategy to strengthen and diversify the country’s energy industry.

“Here is a Venezuela that comes to the fore, that continues to fight and that continues to compete (…) to make our industry an energy power,” he stated.

On the other hand, the president in charge confirmed her conversation with Trump and reported that Washington had stopped restricting Venezuelan airspace. Let all the airlines that have to come come! Let all the investors come, they have to come!

Rodríguez reported that he held a meeting with one of the most important companies in Indonesia, during which they addressed the content and relevance of the Reform of the Organic Hydrocarbon Law.

He also reported that in the next few hours, the Venezuelan people will be able to see a video that will fill the nation with pride, by showing the first export of the first gas molecule in the history of the country. “The ship is already in Venezuela (…) and we will see it leaving, in the next few weeks, and I will share that video,” he said.

He reiterated his call to the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and the citizen security organizations under his command to equally remain at the service of the Venezuelan people, with the purpose of guaranteeing peace, sovereignty, territorial integrity, defense and respect for the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
