Delcy Rodríguez receives the baton of command of the FAN and becomes its commander in chief

Delcy Rodríguez, in charge of the Executive, reported that she decided to create a national office for the country’s defense and cybersecurity and explained that the Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, will be at the helm, whom she asked to expand capabilities “to defend our space.”


Delcy Rodríguez, in charge of Executivereceived the baton of command of the National Armed Forces (FAN) from the Minister for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, and became its commander in chief.

Rodríguez accepted the insignia that accredit her as the highest military authority of the military components. During the event on January 28, Padrino López called for unity and coherence to defend independence.

“I have come to this emotional, symbolic act to receive the category of commander in chief,” said Rodríguez, but indicated that she also does so as a “humble Venezuelan woman” and as president in charge of “an extraordinary, complex situation.”

Delcy Rodríguez congratulated the National Armed Forces for their performance in the early hours of January 3, when US military forces entered the country and captured Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores. “I know in detail and in depth their performance before, during and after the military aggression,” he stated and assured that they always maintained permanent contact.
