The President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, and the Chancellor of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Padilla, led a solemn ceremony this Thursday at the Eclectic Monument of the Military Academy of the Bolivarian National Guard (Amgnb), dedicated to honoring the soldiers who were murdered after Donald Trump’s attacks.
The purpose of the ceremony was to pay tribute to the soldiers and citizens who died in combat, as well as the troops who were injured during the aggression that occurred on January 3, which concluded with the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and the first lady Cilia Flores.
During the event, promotions and post-mortem decorations were awarded to relatives of professional officers and troops, “recognizing the sacrifice of those who faced the military offensive,” according to presidential press information.
Recognition of courage and delivery of decorations
The day included the delivery of offerings of honor, ribbons and decorations such as the Army and Aviation Cross in its first class, awarded to troops who were injured in service.
The tribute included both military personnel of various ranks and civilian citizens who were victims of the aggression.
International brotherhood and presence of authorities
The event also paid tribute to the 32 Cuban combatants who lost their lives in defense of Venezuelan territory. The offering of honor was received by the Chancellor of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Padilla, who visited the country to offer Havana’s solidarity with Venezuela, and the Cuban ambassador to Venezuela, Jorge Luis Mayo Fernández.
The ceremony featured military honors, including a prayer blast and seven artillery salutes. Likewise, prayers were held for the fallen, led by the military bishop of Fanb, Monsignor Benito Adán Méndez Bracamonte, and Colonel Elioner Delgado Carrillo.
Among the authorities present were General-in-Chief Vladimir Padrino López, sectoral vice president of Defense and Sovereignty, along with members of the military high command, who accompanied Rodríguez in the tribute.
