Delcy Rodríguez, this Sunday, January 25, defended the political dialogue announced by his administration as the main way to resolve the “divergences” and “internal conflicts” in the country, and rejected what he described as “orders from Washington” on Venezuelan politicians.
During an event with oil workers in Puerto La Cruz, broadcast by the state channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Rodríguez called for Venezuelan political actors to define the course of the nation without external interference.
“That is why it is important that we open the spaces for democratic divergence, but that it be politics with a capital P and with a V of Venezuela. Enough of Washington’s orders on politicians in Venezuela. Let it be Venezuelan politics that resolves our differences and our internal conflicts,” said the president.
Rodríguez assured that discussion with respect is “welcome” among those who think differently, although he added that “those who seek harm and evil” must be “rejected and separated from national life.” Without mentioning names, he also said: “Those who dared to go to the United States to say thank you for the bombing of our people do not deserve the dignity of this country or its people.”
The president in charge recalled that last Friday she proposed the call for a “true dialogue” which, she said, must include both “coinciding” and “divergent” political sectors. He entrusted the leadership of this initiative to his brother and president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, with the idea that the process produces “concrete, immediate results.”
Rodríguez insisted that this dialogue must be fully Venezuelan and free of external impositions—not only from Washington, but also from other capitals such as Bogotá or Madrid—and that the agreements reached must benefit citizens without outside intervention.

This statement comes in a context of complex relations between Caracas and Washington following the capture of Nicolás Maduro by US military forces on January 3 and subsequent diplomatic contacts between the Trump administration and the Venezuelan caretaker government.
In parallel to the call for internal dialogue, Rodríguez has reiterated that Venezuela maintains a process of negotiation and conversation with the United States, maintaining that diplomacy continues to be a valid tool to resolve differences “without any fear”, although he insists on defending the “national sovereignty and dignity of the country in the face of any external pressure.”
The president in charge has also censored the positions of some Venezuelans who, in her opinion, have celebrated actions by the United States that she calls aggression, in reference to internal debates about the political and social consequences after Maduro’s departure from power.
