The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, congratulated this Friday the President of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, after being appointed Vice President of the Latin America Group of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) during their second meeting in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Through his account on the social network Twitter, Rodríguez pointed out that with this election “Venezuela shines with its own light and joins the construction of a multipolar world without hegemonies.”
Earlier, the NAM Parliamentary Network announced the designated officials for the regions.
After the announcement, the president of the NA He sent a message through Twitter expressing his gratitude to the NAM for this election by consensus of the Parliamentary Network.
Rodríguez assumes the vice presidency of the Latin America Group for a period of three years with the option to be renewed for another period.
The Parliamentary Network has a president and three vice presidents, whose election was one of the topics of this meeting, together with the adoption of the Baku Declaration, which establishes the same principles of the NAM and the Charter of the Organization of the United Nations.
This presidency and vice-presidencies form part of the Network’s bodies, also made up of the Conference that brings together all the delegations of the member Parliaments; the Bureau, Secretariat and Standing Committees on Political Issues; Economic Affairs; Social and Humanitarian Affairs; and Methodology.
