Delcy Rodríguez: coercive measures are political blackmail

The executive vice president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, raised her voice on behalf of the 31 nations victims of the sanctions, stating that they do not recognize or accept unilateral coercive measures, “because it would mean accepting the application of extraterritorial jurisdictions.”

He asserted that the attacks and sanctions are part of political blackmail directed towards those nations that are not aligned with hegemonic mandates.

During the event held at the Yellow House, headquarters of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, in commemoration of the International Day against Unilateral Coercive Measures, Rodríguez highlighted that these are “measures that the UN Security Council does not recognize, and that seek to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries,” reported the Instagram channel of the Executive Vice Presidency.

Representatives of the Nations that make up the Group of Friends in Defense of the United Nations Charter and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Venezuela were also present at the ceremony, where the senior government official ratified, on behalf of the attacked nations, the repudiation of this illegal mechanism.

On the other hand, the Minister of Popular Power for Foreign AffairsYván Gil, warned that these measures are illegal “and constitute an aggression as harmful as conventional war, which turns the people of the nations of the Global South into targets of economic war.”

The senior Venezuelan diplomat pointed out that non-compliance with the United Nations Charter threatens the peace of the countries.

Next, he made reference to the genocide towards the Palestinian people by Israel, the criminal blockade towards Cuba and the military threat in the Caribbean, by the US, facts that represent a reflection of the violation of rights, as well as the imposition of unilateral coercive measures.

Next, Gil denounced the violation of the right to development and economic prosperity with the use of this despicable mechanism of coercion, with the intention of imposing regime changes and subduing the sovereign institutions of nations.

Foreign Minister Yván Gil reaffirmed the general clamor of the affected nations: “Enough of Unilateral Coercive Measures!”, he said amidst the applause of those in attendance.

Venezuela demands the elimination of the 1,042 that the United States Government has imposed to block the country in its constant siege against the nation.
