The Department for Social Prosperity (DPS) announced this week some discouraging news for young beneficiaries of the Renta Joven program, who will not receive the money on time. which are awaiting payment for the fourth payment cycle, due to errors beyond the control of the entity.
This was reported by Gustavo Bolívar, director of the entity, who stressed that this delay is due to the fact that 64% of the university institutions, according to the number of enrolled students that the program has through agreements, did not generate the verification reports of commitments of the students who belong to Renta Joven or presented inconsistencies in the uploading of the documentation.

“The fourth payment cycle began this Thursday, August 29, with the dispersion of resources to more than 278,000 program participants: it corresponds to the enrollment report for the first semester of the year, for the institutions higher education; and the April-May verification period for the Sena,” explained Bolívar.
In this regard, Prosperidad Social warned that it will not apply the settlement for the affected participants until the universities comply with the legal report to which they are committed by the inter-institutional agreements for the development of the program.
“The universities where these problems occurred will be able to carry out the upload of the registration for the 2024-1 period, from September 10 to 16, again so that the program can carry out the verification process with the aforementioned adjustments,” indicated the Director of the Department for Social Prosperity.
It should be noted that young people who complete the verification process will receive monetary transfers for the fifth cycle, which is scheduled for October, as long as the universities make the corresponding charge, while stating that it must be taken into account that in the fourth cycle, the program makes the delivery corresponding to the enrollment report for the period 2024-1, while for the fifth cycle, it will be done for the concept of permanence and excellence.

“Prosperidad Social will take, together with educational institutions, preventive measures to ensure the effective delivery of the monetary incentives of the Renta Joven program. The entity signs agreements with public universities to ensure the implementation and execution of the program, which operates in close collaboration with the educational institutions. collaboration with higher education institutions (HEIs) and other strategic allies,” said Bolívar.
The DPS was clear that institutions are responsible for carrying out the process of verifying academic conditionalities, which involves certifying compliance with academic requirements by program participants, and reminded universities that this information is the main input for Prosperidad Social to carry out the settlement and deliver the monetary transfers.
They also reported that in this process it is necessary for the institutions higher education institutions consolidate academic information reports in each operating cycle, following the schedule established by the program; since in this way it is possible to determine which students meet all the requirements.
“They must keep the information system of the IES and the academic information of the program participants updated, in order to generate and upload the verification reports of commitments required by Prosperidad Social, and carry out the process of liquidation and delivery of incentives for the participants of the Renta Joven program, according to the schedule and operational guidelines defined by Prosperidad Social for said process,” they stated.
Renta Joven is a program led by Prosperidad Social to strengthen the social policy of the National Government, and contribute to the social and economic inclusion of the young population in situations of poverty and vulnerability. It provides monetary transfers, and implements strategies that facilitate access and permanence in higher education and consolidation of life trajectories.
