At the beginning of the year, specifically in the month of January, the public servants of the centralized institutions receive their payroll with delays.

This year has not been different, although to date there are many entities and bodies that have released the payroll of their employees by making the payment corresponding to the month of January 2022.

The cause is always the same: the budget load carried out by the General Budget Directorate at the beginning of the year and, in 2022, an update to the Public Administration System (SASP) is added, as reported to that newspaper.

Although it is something that happens on a recurring basis, some institutions have circulated notices to their collaborators explaining the reasons why the payment could not be made. Such is the case of the Ministry of Public Health, which circulated a memorandum addressed to its employees. “The payment corresponding to the month of January 2022 will present a certain delay to the usual date, due to the update of the Public Administration System (SASP) and the budget load carried out by the General Directorate of the Budget each beginning of the year”, says the circular of Public Health.

Within the large number of state institutions, the Presidency of the Republic, the Santo Domingo Aqueduct Corporation (Caasd), the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewage (Inapa) have paid on time and in the last days of that week. , the Army that belongs to the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Office of Meteorology, the Ministry of Education, among others.

National Treasury makes payments

The National Treasury, which is in charge of executing the payments arising from obligations previously contracted by the central government, as well as the transfers required by the other public bodies, provided they are ordered by the competent authority, has given as a reason in previous years that This occurs because some entities are late in sending payroll.

Last December, the Senate of the Republic approved the General State Budget for this year 2022, for an amount of one billion 214 thousand 606 million seven thousand 369 pesos, of which 230 thousand 394 million 186 thousand 544 pesos correspond to the Wages and salaries.

Some entities that have not made the payments

According to information offered to elCaribe, among the institutions that have not yet paid their employees are the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), the Navy of the Ministry of Defense, the Directorate of Mining, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The decentralized institutions have been able to make the payments because they do not depend on the Treasury.
