Havana Cuba. — “It is unfair what they have done to me, I am dissatisfied because that sentence changes my life”, he declared to CubaNet political prisoner Luis Robles Elizástigui, recently sentenced to five years imprisonment for the crimes of enemy propaganda and disobedience
“I feel bad because there is no justice in this country, they can use the laws arbitrarily just because you don’t agree with them. What hope can I have for my family, for my children? I am disappointed to live in a country like this with a judicial system like this, ”he confessed to this medium.
The conviction of Robles, held in prison Eastern Combine for more than a year, it became firm on March 28 after three months of delay. Precisely, the family filed, through the lawyer representing him, an appeal before the People’s Provincial Court of Havana (TPP).
With said procedure dictated by the Cuban Procedural Law, the family of the 29-year-old intends to challenge the sentence communicated by the Chamber of Crimes Against State Security of the TPP.
In said sentencing document, it was stated as “proven facts” that Luis Robles Elizástigui responded to a call by the presenter Alexander Otaola to “pronounce against the legal detention that citizen Denis Solís was suffering at that time (…)”.
Likewise, it acknowledges that Robles explained at the oral hearing “the way in which the events occurred, his motivations for carrying them out (…), as well as the satisfaction he felt for what he did, being able to express himself and express everything he thought.”
The resolution also presents the “assessment of the evidence”, where it is indicated that a witness named Vladimir “was able to perceive Luis Robles’ intention that people join him in the protest” and that “although he did not ask for it expressed, with the attitude he showed (…) he transmitted it tacitly”.
