Last Thursday, the Plenary Session of Congress approved by majority motion 4213, which empowers the National Defense Commission to investigate the alleged commission of irregularities in the use of the presidential plane and other aircraft belonging to the Armed Forces by of the president peter castle and their relatives.
The document obtained a total of 66 votes in favor, 41 against and 1 abstention after supporting the arguments presented by the president of the Defense Commission, Congressman Diego Bazán (Avanza País), who was also the author of the motion.
With this, a total of 120 days were arranged for the members of the aforementioned parliamentary group to investigate the reported events and determine whether the state aircraft of the Defense and Interior sectors were indeed misused.
The facts behind the investigation
The decision made by Congress has its origin in a complaint made by the Centro Liber portal on September 25. In it, among other details, the alleged irregular use of planes belonging to the State by relatives and close associates of President Pedro Castillo was revealed.
According to the facts presented, two of the nephews of the head of state, Kevin Castillo Medina and Cristian Ríos Castillo, they would have made constant trips to national destinations such as Talara, Iquitos, Tumbes or Puerto Maldonado, transferred by military planes.
The same incident was also reported in the case of other close associates of the president, such as Iván Castillo Castillo, Rafael Delgado Manuel, Carlos Orellana Ordóñez, Dunker Wilfredo Hilario Ayala, people who, despite not being part of any state institution, would have used government planes to travel around the country.

The “Lay Vásquez Castillo” case
One of the points that will be taken into account in the parliamentary investigation will be related to “Lay Vasquez Castillo”, one of the passengers who boarded a plane of the Peruvian Air Force (FAP) on June 23. Said aircraft was transporting the president and a group of companions on a visit to the city of Chiclayo.
The suspicions surrounding this name are due to the resemblance it has to that of Fray Vásquez Castillo, the president’s nephew, who has not been since March 28, on whom investigations are pending for the alleged commission of the crimes of aggravated collusion and criminal organization. . In this sense, it is suspected that the escape of Fray Vásquez could have been facilitated and that the pseudonym “Lay Vásquez” was used to cover up the situation.
However, the Government has ruled out this option. According to Defense Minister Daniel Barragán, it would be a “material error” and that the identity of the traveler in question would correspond to that of Yoni Vásquez Castillo.
“I want to refer to the material error that existed when there was a trip by the President of the Republic, when placing the word Lay in the office because that’s what the handwritten document said. When they type it, the lady who passes it in the office, she passes it by putting Lay, but the one who really travels is Yoni Vásquez Castillo, his ID confirms it when he returns, ”Barragán declared at the time.
