Defense and INAU promote labor insertion of young people who graduate from the institute

The Ministry of National Defense (MDN) and the Institute for Children and Adolescents of Uruguay (INAU) signed, this Thursday 4, an agreement by which young people with 18 years of age who graduate from institute centers will be able to fill vacancies to be determined in units dependent executors of the portfolio. The idea is to promote the construction of citizenship and contribute to the employability and job placement of these people.

The activity took place in the Hall of Honor of the Secretary of State, with the presence of the Defense Minister, Javier García; the president of INAU, Pablo Abdala, and other authorities from both institutions.

In his speech, García pointed out the importance of the agreement for the employment of adolescents linked to the INAU who are about to graduate from the system and stressed that it is inspired by the social inclusion of this sector of the population.

He indicated that this agreement favors the opening of the ministry and its different executing units so that young people have access to an opportunity, which, for some, will mean a first experience and, for others, a continuation.

He argued that adolescents will be able to take advantage of the institutional organization, discipline and values that are promoted from the forces and their dependencies to acquire work habits. He added that the agreement is inspired by social inclusion, by providing greater possibilities and tools to young people who were institutionalized and did not have them, so that they can face the challenges of life.

Abdala, meanwhile, asserted that the agreement represents the policy promoted by the INAU to create strategies, tools and opportunities to achieve the graduation and progressive autonomy of young people. He added that the goal is for adolescents to have the greatest number of alternatives when it comes to approaching or entering the job market.

He mentioned that there are almost 200 young people, only in the department of Montevideo, with 18 years of age who are not yet in a position to disassociate themselves from the institute and, in that sense, he considered that job opportunities are essential to stay out of the system.

Likewise, he highlighted the institutional link with the Ministry of Defense, with which there are already other agreements in force, such as training in the Florida Battalion of Engineers, where INAU adolescents are trained in different trades and knowledge.

The agreement will be monitored by a coordination and follow-up commission, made up of representatives of both parties, which may make suggestions and recommendations. In addition, there will be a mid-term and a final evaluation.

The term of the agreement, national in scope, will be two years from the date of subscription, which may be renewed for equal and consecutive periods, after evaluation by the committee and the approval of the authorities.
