Decree signed by President Jair Bolsonaro this Thursday (11) authorized the continuation of the re-bidding process at Tom Jobim International Airport, Galeão, in Rio de Janeiro.
The Investment Partnership Program (PPI) Board had already published a resolution, in June, in which it recommended the re-bidding of the airport after the current concessionaire, Changi Airport, from Singapore, withdrew from continuing to manage the terminal, on the grounds of incapacity. of fulfilling the obligations arising from the contract. The Tom Jobim/Galeão International Airport was awarded for R$19 billion in 2014.
The technical and legal feasibility of the Galeão re-bidding request was also approved by the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac). The asset is expected to be offered again to the private sector in the second half of this year.
The administrator will continue to manage the airport until a new concessionaire signs a new contract with the Union.
