Within the framework of the commemoration of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, the Colombian Safety Council (CCS) highlighted the benefits of promoting a business culture in favor of decent work and safe and healthy work environmentswith a decalogue about its benefits.
(How is the gender gap in financial inclusion in the country?).
Adriana Solano, president of the CCS, commented that having an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SG-SST) should not be motivated by legal compliance, “it should be a strategic decision of the organizations that want to protect its workers and its business, ensure sustainability and achieve competitiveness”.

The first advantage of this policy, says the decalogue, is that it protects workers and, in that line, as a second benefit, it mentions that it mitigates organizational risks. Likewise, it highlights that a solid System gives rise to better planning practices, development of skills and abilities, allows the development of leadership, the participation and involvement of collaborators and the creation of a preventive organizational culture.
In addition, it favors reputation, social dialogue, attracts and retains human talent, which is a factor of competitiveness and continuity in the business; it reduces costs, contributes to the construction of a better country and prevents sanctions.
To commemorate the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, the CCS will hold today the award ceremony for the National Journalism Award for Risk Management, in virtual format. The academic panel “Employment as a Social Policy for Sustainability” will be held, with the participation of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the Ministry of Labor and the Colombian Security Council.
