the rosarino Federico Coria debuted with a win this Tuesday at the Córdoba Open ATP250 that takes place at the Polo Deportivo Kempes against the Brazilian Thiago Monteiro (6-7, 6-1 and 6-2) and Federico Delbonis did the same against the Chilean Alejandro Tabilo by 6-7, 6-2 and 7-6while in the early hours of this Wednesday, Guido Pella from Bahia was playing his match against the Italian Andrea Vavassori.

This Wednesday the Argentines Tomás Etcheverry (81), Facundo Bagnis (88), Pedro Cachin (66) and Sebastián Báez (47) will see action, while the debuts of the first three seeds, Diego Schwarztman (28), Francisco Cerúndolo (31 ) and the current champion, the Spanish Albert Ramos Viñolas (54), will be on Thursday in matches corresponding to the second round (eighth final).

Schwartzman, number 28 in the world ranking and first Argentine racket, will seek his first title in the opening of the clay-court season, after a discreet tour of Oceania (R1 in Auckland and R2 at the Australian Open).

The “Peque” played all the editions of the Cordovan open but was never crowned: he was a finalist in 2020 and a semifinalist last year.

Coria, ranked 67th in the ATP world ranking, beat Monteiro (78) 6-7, 6-1 and 6-2, Delbonis (131) did the same with Chilean Tabilo (146) 6- 7, 6-2 and 7-6, and Pella (1018) began, after midnight, his first round match against the Italian Vavassori (221), emerged from the classification.

Coria from Rosario did not have a good start in the sweltering heat of the brick dust court on the center court, where temperatures were over 38 degrees during the siesta, and after losing the first set, he recovered in the remaining two to remain solid and forceful with the victory.

After the duel, in which he prevailed in 2 hours and 43 minutes, the tennis player from Rosario assured that he did not have a good day before the match, since he felt sick as a result of intoxication and without knowing if he could be present in court.

Coria had a great service game, placed 12 aces, suffered a single double fault and hit 68 percent of his first serves. and awaits in the next phase for the winner of the match that will be played tomorrow by Bagnis and the Italian Marco Cecchinato.

On the Cordoba night another intense and highly contested match was seen, in the first set Delbonis had four points to keep the set, but he hurried over and over again in search of defining it in his favor, but the tennis player from Chile took advantage of his first chance and won that tie-break, 10-8.

The best of the native of Azul was seen in the second set, solid from the bottom of the court and with good points on serve (he played 75% of the points with his first serve) he was able to tilt the score in his favor by a comfortable 6-2.

But the consistency of the Chilean returned for the decisive set, he was able to break Delbonis’s serve in the fifth game, and he seemed to be heading for victory, but he could not materialize the two match points that he had when he won 5-4, and gave him life to Delbonis, who appealed to his experience to reverse the score.

The one from Azul was able to get 5 to 5 and the definition stretched again until the tie break, in which the Chilean once again took the lead, but Delbonis recovered to close the game in his favor, and thus advance to the round of 16 where he will face Fran Cerúndolo.

After the extensive match that lasted just over 3 hours, Delbonis expressed that “it’s very nice to play with your people” and thanked those who stayed to cheer on despite the schedule.

For his part, the Chilean Cristian Garín (103), who was able to crown himself in Cordoba in 2020, imposed his game on the end and eliminated the Spanish Pedro Martínez (72) 7-6, 2-6 and 6-0.

On court 1, the Chilean Tomás Barrios Vera (212) took a great victory against the Colombian Daniel Elahí Galán (83) by 7-6 and 6-2 to get into the next instance.

On Wednesday the action will take place entirely on the Central field, and will begin with the game between Etcheverry and the Portuguese Joao Sousa (162), and then the clashes between Bagnis and the Italian Cecchinato (93), Cachin against the Bolivian Hugo Delien (138), while in the closing Báez will face the Italian nationalized Luciano Darderi (140).

The 250 category tournament will be played on the fields of Polo Deportivo Kempes until Sunday the 12th, as a preview of the Buenos Aires ATP, distributes $642,735 in prizes and is televised by Fox Sports 2.
