Debate in Cuba on digitization for Latin American development

In the first of his sessions, Deputy Prime Minister José Luis Perdomo argued that digital transformation on the island is a pillar of government aimed at increasing popular participation and interaction between citizens and public administration.

According to him, the goals set in this area demand the creation of new capacities, the diversification of the technological actors in the industry, and the strengthening of the electronic government programs of the different municipalities.

Likewise, the representative of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) for Central America Miguel Alcaine recognized the efforts of the Antillean nation to expand the broadband infrastructure in promoting the use of information and communication technologies (TICS) in a effective way.

He also praised Cuba’s efforts to promote the creation of small and medium-sized companies, which he considered vital for innovation and job creation.

The Cuban Minister of Communications, Mayra Arevich, for her part, highlighted the government’s will to continue increasing the services provided to the population.

Cuba, he stated, will continue to develop the process of computerization of society and move towards digital transformation to ensure the construction of an inclusive, supportive digital society, without social gaps, and with the aim of contributing to the development of people and values. most authentic of his Revolution.

Until next Friday the 25th, more than 270 national and foreign papers from countries such as Mexico, Spain, China, Argentina, Brazil, Canada and France will be presented at the convention.

The exhibition fair, developed alongside the theoretical event, has as its goals the creation of strategic alliances, the exchange of experiences and the presentation of applications, solutions and services specific to this field.
