The father of Debanhi Escobar, the 18-year-old Mexican reported missing on April 9 and whose body was located days later inside a cistern in the state of Nuevo León, has begun to post material this week on his YouTube channel to report on the progress in the investigation of his daughter’s case and deny any rumors about it.
“Don’t pay attention to the ‘youtubers'”, asked Mario Escobar to his audience in one of his speeches.
In his first three videos, from May 5, he specifies that the State Attorney General’s Office continues to work to clarify the facts and that it has received the support of the local government.
He assured that he and his wife have been victims of death threats, which is why the state governor, Samuel Garcia, provided them with personal escorts. She also indicated that the authorities are working to determine if it was a femicide and not rule out any line of investigation.
escobar defends the hypothesis that his daughter did not accidentally fall into the cistern, as the authorities point out, and believes that they “planted” her in the place where her body was found, on April 21.
In his last recording this Friday, he commented on the formation of an inter-institutional group to compare the independent autopsy performed on the body of the adolescent with that of the Prosecutor’s Office. Previously, this father had voiced that, in his personal opinion, he felt that “there were many differences” between both exams.
Regarding the recent news of finding this Thursday from a credential with Debanhi’s photograph on the outskirts of a residential condominium in the municipality of Monterrey, Mario confirmed that the health service card belonged to his daughter, but clarified that it had been lost about two and a half months ago .
On the other hand, warned the general public to be careful with people who would be trying to profit from the case by asking for money through social networks. “If there are people who are doing this, do not deposit money. We have not authorized anyone,” she said.
The death of Debanhi Escobar caused a commotion in Mexico that has become a political crisis for the Government of the state of Nuevo León and a spectacle for the media that cover every little detail of the case, that spread unconfirmed versions plagued with speculation and that in some cases they try to blame the victim and their relatives for the tragedy.
It is one of the most mediatic disappearances of recent times, due in part to the fact that a driver took his last photo alive and it went viral.
