Death of Army Corps General Ramón Espinosa Martín

SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- On Tuesday afternoon, Army Corps General Ramón Espinosa Martín, first vice minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) and one of the most trusted men of the Castro leadership, passed away.

The news was confirmed by the official newspaper Granma, official organ of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC). The note revealed that the death occurred “suddenly.”

The official media did not fail to point out that Espinosa Martín was a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the PCC and a deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power. He also held a recognition as a Hero of the Republic of Cuba and of Labor, and, according to the press, “he accumulated a brilliant record of service to the Homeland and the FAR.”

The body of the repressor Espinosa will be cremated, and his ashes deposited in the “Granma” room of the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, according to the text.
