Dean of San Marcos: “The figure of the San Marcos is terruqueda to dehumanize it and legitimize violent repression”

He came out front. The dean of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of the National University of San MarcosMarcel Velázquez, rejected the claims, without evidence, of Congressman Jorge Montoyawho pointed out that Sendero Luminoso is located within the Dean of America.

“Congressman Montoya attacks public universities and reiterates false associations against San Marcos, as he maintains that, in it, Sendero ‘threatens teachers.’ As a professor from San Marcos, I deny him and condemn his hate speech.which is fed by fake news,” he said.

Velázquez also stated that “The social figure of the student at the University of San Marcos is destroyed to dehumanize it.” and legitimize the violent repression” carried out by the Government to contain social protests, such as those that occurred last week that ended with one deceased (Eduardo Ruiz Sanz) and one injured (Luis Reyes Rodríguez) who is in a coma.

This position of the San Marcos dean is given not only by the statements of legislator Jorge Montoya but also by the statements of the Minister of the Interior, Vicente Tiburciowho said that “the most violent protesters were the UNMSM students”; as well as the unfortunate response of the parliamentarian, Fernando Rospigliosi, who pointed out that the deceased young man Eduardo Ruiz Sanz called himself “terruco” when in reality he was ‘Trvko’.

The Concertación por San Marcos collective, which brings together four groups of San Marcos teachers and students, also showed its opposition to legislator Montoya’s position. “A smear campaign has been launched against the UNMSM. The fact that he is a congressman does not authorize him to defame and destroy San Marcos,” he indicated.

He added that the history of the Dean of America continues to be the history of Peru. “We demand the cessation of all forms of defamation against San Marcos. There is a lot of darkness, mediocrity and shady interests in defaming San Marcos, the first public university in the country,” he stated in a statement.

They send a notarial letter to Montoya

Last Tuesday, the authorities of theNational University of San Marcos (UNMSM)They sent him a notarized letter toCongressman Jorge Montoyain which they demand that he rectify himself for having pointed out that Sendero Luminoso is within the Dean of America.

Well, in the notarial letter that bears the signature of its legal representative, Abelardo Rojas, the UNMSM responded that Montoya’s statements lack evidentiary support.

“In addition, they are offensive to the image of our four-hundred-year-old house of studies, which is made up of students, teachers and workers, and which is recognized for its commitment to freedom of thoughtand training of upright professionals,” he said.

Despite the notarized letter, to date, Congressman Montoya has not spoken out or retracted his unfortunate statements.
