In the solemn session held by the College of Journalists of Peru this October 1, when celebrating Journalist’s Day, Dean José María Gómez Rumiche highlighted that social communicators seek to report with integrity in order to build a more just society.

“The journalist seeks not only to inform, but to do so while respecting the dignity of men and women and promoting the common good; this implies journalism that avoids sensationalism,” he stressed.
Voice for the marginalized
He stressed that it is important that journalists currently lend their voice to give voice to the marginalized, bring light to where there are dark events and denounce injustices.

Referring to the current era of digitalization, he stressed that communication professionals should never leave ethics and morals aside.
