The defense of former Federal Planning Minister Julio De Vido said Tuesday that “the story” of the accusation prosecutor in the Vialidad case is “a replica of the one that was installed in the monopoly media” in a time when “not only is one political sector persecuted” but “another is also shielded, protected.”
“The prosecutor’s story is a replica of the one that was installed in the monopoly media from 2004 to date,” said De Vido’s lawyer, Maximiliano Rusconi, on the second day of the final argument before the Federal Oral Court 2.
rusconi will request the acquittal of the former Kirchnerist officialwhom prosecutors Diego Luciani and Sergio Mola they demanded a sentence of ten years in prison for alleged illicit association and fraud against the public administration with the award of national road works to companies of the also accused businessman Lázaro Báez in Santa Cruz between 2003 and 2015.
The defender opened his second day of exposure before judges Rodrigo Giménez Uriburu, Jorge Gorini and Andrés Basso, and ratified that the prosecution is a “resounding failure”.
“At this time, what happens is not only that it is persecuted in a bold, false, anti-normative way, segmented into one sector, but also that another political sector is shielded, protected,” he said.
Rusconi questioned the prosecution by pointing out that “He has followed a fairly exhaustive outline of the agenda that the media have established, but the main problem is that it does not correlate with the evidence included in the trial” and added: “It is a great falsehood.”
“We all remember that the person who began to talk about overpricing in housing works was at the time deputy Elisa Carrió, and my client Julio De Vido sued her to explain or clarify,” he added.
The deputy “did well, as always, despite the fact that she has said scandalous things like doing counterintelligence, but no prosecutor felt the need to investigate what it means for a deputy to do counterintelligence.”
“Santa Cruz began to be talked about in television programs that showed falsehoods,” he recalled, noting that “that same feeling was left by the prosecutors in their story about non-existent and abandoned works.”
“Nothing was proven” warned the lawyer, who remarked that “there were no surcharges nor were there other certificates not executed”.
This Monday, Rusconi began his presentation and considered that, in this case, in which Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is also charged, “all” constitutional guarantees were violated and that the Prosecutor’s Office constructed “a story” to “persecute a political sector.”
In addition, the lawyer asserted that the Court has the “procedural and ethical obligation” to acquit the former Minister of Federal Planning of Kirchnerism.
“We believe that the Court will have the procedural, ethical and constitutional obligation to acquit Julio De Vido”warned Rusconi, just beginning his argument before the Federal Oral Court 2 in the debate for alleged crimes with the national public works in Santa Cruz between 2003 and 2015.
The trial, which is carried out through the Zoom platform, will continue this Tuesday and on Friday it will be the turn of the former Undersecretary of Public Works of the Nation, Abel Fatala.
The start of the argument for the defense of Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is expected on Monday of next week.who received a request for a sentence of 12 years in prison and lifelong disqualification from holding public office.
In the trial, the alleged maneuvers to benefit the businessman Lázaro Báez with awards of national public works and other alleged irregularities through the firm “Austral Construcciones” are discussed.
