The Minister of the Interior, Eduardo “Wado” de Pedro, affirmed this Saturday night that the “‘Never Again'” to the crimes committed by the last civic-military dictatorship constitutes “the great national agreement that the Argentines have” and affirmed that the country “should be proud of having resolved the consequences left by a genocide with memory, truth and justice”.
“The ‘Never Again’ is the great agreement that Argentines have today. We should be proud as a country of having resolved as a country the consequences left by a genocide with memory, truth and justice”, said De Pedro in statements to channel C5N.
Amid the repercussions of the commemorations and tributes that took place on the National Day of Memory for Truth and Justice, the minister stressed that “memory is alive in many young people who are active today” and they marched on Thursday, 46 years have passed since the last coup d’état suffered by Argentina.
“Today I see that memory is alive in the memory of the young people who militate and march. The last dictatorship wanted to go against society, undermine the self-esteem of a people. Remembering it serves so that it does not happen again “indicated the minister.
During the interview, De Pedro made reference to his personal history as the son of the disappeared and his militancy in human rights organizations. and, visibly moved, he affirmed that the young people who marched on March 24 “are children of Kirchnerism.”
“Those kids are the ones who saw how during the government of Néstor (Kirchner) their parents got their jobs back or received a computer, they are the ones who were in that march”he highlighted.
In relation to the publication published by the newspaper La Nación that stated that on Thursday, in the middle of the march, De Pedro had gotten on a motorcycle belonging to a group that he erroneously called “Loyalty Montonera”, when in fact it was called “Loyalty Motokera”, The official assessed that it was an “error that has to do with a logic of distortion and misinformation.”
“It is a mistake that has to do with ghosts in the past and not understanding that society has changed. It seems that they stayed in their complicities and they see Montoneros everywhere, “said De Pedro.

In relation to the differences that arose in the Frente de Todos (FdT) in relation to the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), De Pedro interpreted that “the axis is put in those divergences” instead of analyzing “how it was generated the debt” with the global credit institution.
“We have to discuss how a debt of more than 150 billion dollars was generated during the government of (Mauricio) Macri. We also have to establish a ‘Never Again’ to the debt cycle and to that pendulum Argentina that always breaks the industrial country again”, the minister stressed.
De Pedro estimated that the Frente de Todos will find a way to “coordinate an internal dialogue to generate more peace of mind” for the citizenry.
“The President (Alberto Fernández) is the one who makes the decisions and his position is not collegiate, as he said and I agree. I have no doubt that we are going to find in the Frente de Todos the way to coordinate a dialogue. There is an exaggeration with these questions because it is functional to not talk about the disaster that Macri left behind,” he pointed out.
The minister also stated that “the real corruption” has to do with the flight of capital and with “the commissions” received by those who take on these debts, which “all Argentines must then pay.”
